A commercial bank in Owo, a town in Ondo State and Owo State was broken into and set ablaze on Thursday.

The hoodlums numbering about and wielding guns and cutlasses tried to attack residents in Oshodi in Lagos State, but the swift intervention of the police thwarted their actions in the bud.

Armed to the teeth police personnel were able to bring maximum force on the hoodlums who run for their dear lives.

Briefing Graphiconline, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Ken Nwosu said the police received a distress call from members of the public about an attempted attack.

Fuel Stations

The usual long queues at filling stations in city centres across the country have quadrupled leading to fears among motorists and vehicle owners as well as people with generators powered by fuel.

The long queues could be attributed to panic buying because people are apprehensive that there could be disturbances after the polls, especially with the antecedent that in 2011, over 500 people died in the northern part of country after the declaration of the results.

Others also attributed the long and winding queues to artificial shortages created by the fuel station owners just to hike their prices

Election Day

On Election Day in Nigeria, commercial, corporate and private vehicles are not allowed to move around from morning till evening. With this security measure, shops, markets and other businesses do not open.

Already, shop owners have started displaying notices that they would not open their shops on the Election Day.

Security

Since Thursday morning, a fleet of armoured vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, police pickups loaded with armed police officers have been parading through almost all the state ostensibly to register their presence.
