Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Kojo Bonsu, has renewed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with China following high-level talks with Mr Wang Yong, Director General of the International Cooperation Department of China’s Ministry of Public Security.
The meeting, held in Beijing, focused on expanding collaboration in security, public safety and capacity-building as both countries respond to evolving transnational threats. Ambassador Bonsu conveyed the government’s appreciation for China’s continued support for Ghana’s development and reaffirmed Accra’s determination to broaden cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
According to the Embassy, discussions explored opportunities to enhance institutional capacity within Ghana’s security and law enforcement agencies, particularly in policing, cybersecurity and crime prevention. The two sides also examined prospects for training exchanges, technical assistance and the sharing of best practices to improve intelligence gathering and operational coordination.
Ambassador Bonsu emphasised that Ghana values China’s role as a strategic partner and remains committed to deepening engagement grounded in mutual respect and shared priorities. He noted that both countries recognise the importance of collaboration in tackling cross-border crime, strengthening peacekeeping efforts and protecting citizens at home and abroad.
Mr Wang Yong expressed China’s readiness to work with Ghana to translate the dialogue into concrete programmes and joint initiatives. He underscored the relevance of continuous cooperation and the need to foster trust and communication as global security challenges grow more complex.
The two sides described the engagement as a reaffirmation of their shared vision of a safer and more prosperous future. It concluded with mutual expressions of goodwill and a commitment to advance practical actions in the months ahead, further reinforcing the Ghana–China partnership.
