Kwesi Pratt Jnr takes a swipe at Zelensky
The Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper of Ghana, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has criticised Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, for publishing details of a private conversation with his Ghanaian counterpart, John Dramani Mahama, saying the action of Zelensky is unbecoming of the diplomatic responsibility he holds.
The veteran journalist accused President Zelensky of stirring controversy that could damage Ghana’s relationship with different nations and international partners, including the Alliance of Sahel States.

President Zelensky is said to have posted on X, formerly Twitter, that: "Ghana is also interested in our technologies, the production of various types of drones, and the experience Ukraine has gained during this war. Ghana is ready to finance our production, and we are ready to help our partners secure their borders”.
Mr Pratt questioned how Ghana would want to fall on Ukraine to secure its borders when "evidence abounds that Ukrainian intelligence officers and soldiers are assisting terrorist groups in the Sahel States to wreak havoc on citizens and communities in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger".
In any case, he asked, "Secure the borders from whom? "
#ZELENSKY’S EXPORT
— Kwesi Pratt Jnr. (@kwesiprattjr) July 17, 2025
The unelected President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky is a very desperate man and in his desperation, he is deliberately attempting to export his troubles.

Ghana’s worries about border security, Mr Pratt said, "do not spring from threats from governments of neighbouring countries, but from the terrorists Ukraine is assisting in the Alliance of Sahel States".
The article, also posted on X like President Zelensky's post, questioned how Ukraine could suggest that Ghana would abandon pressing domestic burdens and commit resources to finance logistics development meant to be deployed for Ukraine's three-year-old conflict with Russia.
"Over the last three years, Ukraine has received approximately US$280 billion in military, financial, and humanitarian assistance with the US alone providing US$199.6 billion in military aid, US$48.8 billion in financial assistance, and US$3.6 billion in humanitarian aid," the articlesaid.
It weighed this scenario against Ghana’s economic revival efforts where "Ghana is unable to pay its power sector debt of US$3.7 billion", which had compelled President Mahama to announce "the cancellation of petrol allowance and allocation to all political appointees as part of the austerity measures his government is introducing".
Mr Pratt said President Zelensky, whose tenure in office has long expired and has used the war with Russia to perpetuate his stay at post, was showing signs of "desperate man" who is "deliberately attempting to export his troubles".
"Zelensky must be stopped from exporting the chaos in #Ukraine to #Ghana. His support for the terrorists in the Alliance of Sahel States has caused enough problems for us already," Mr Pratt said.
