Ghana Girl Guides Association inducts new commissioners
The Ghana Girl Guides Association (GGGA) has inducted and warranted five new female commissioners into the executive council.
A ceremony was held at the forecourt of the association’s headquarters in Accra for the replacement of the past executive members.
The five-member executive council, who were inducted were Mrs Zakiya Abdul-Wahab, the Chief Commissioner; Ms Stella Adjei-Djan Ohene, the First Deputy Chief Commissioner; Ms Lydia Oteng, the Second Deputy Chief Commissioner; Ms Cynthia Labram, the International Commissioner and Ms Ann Attigah, the Treasurer.
The Immediate Past Chief Commissioner, Juliana Ofori Kissi, advised the new executive members to work as a team to achieve the mission of the Ghana Girl Guides Association by 2020.
She said although it might be tough, they should seek the interest of the association and make the youth discover their potentials in order to succeed in their work.
Mrs Abdul-Wahab, in her acceptance speech, said the team would not abandon its responsibilities but work hard to ensure that young girls achieved their aims of becoming good future leaders under the guide of the GGGA.
She added that GGGA aimed at increasing the membership of the association through a vigorous drive and, therefore, entreated parents, guardians, leaders, government and private institutions to come together and offer support to create more platforms so that their voice could be heard in all directions for the benefit of the country.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisah Djaba, encouraged the new commissioners to work tirelessly to propel the GGGA to higher heights.
She advised women not to allow others to shatter their dreams of becoming who they want to be in future.
