He advised the participating schools to work harder in order to improve on their performance next year.
Junior Graphic’s objective
In his address, the acting Editor of the Junior Graphic, Mr Vance Azu, said the Junior Graphic was designed to inculcate the habit of reading and writing in pupils and students.
He said the paper had also provided a platform for its readers to showcase their writing skills through the publication of their stories and articles.
“It is the only paper that provides additional knowledge to schoolchildren besides what they are taught in the classroom”, he pointed out.
Mr Azu said the spelling competition was also a demonstration of the paper’s commitment to promoting quality education.
The competition, which began with 65 schools, had 13 qualifying for the grand finale.
The event was organised by the GCGL and sponsored by SIC Insurance, Sage Judacan Books and the Mayan Book Centre Limited.
