Afro Flavors Food Festival set to bring village-style celebration to Accra

Accra is preparing to host one of its most vibrant cultural events as the Afro Flavors Food Festival returns with a promise to transform the city into a hub of African heritage. Scheduled for September 13-14, 2025, at Ghud Park, Accra Mall, the two-day festival is expected to deliver a rich mix of food, music, and tradition.

Organisers describe the event as “the biggest village-style feast in the city,” with free entry to allow the widest possible participation. The festival is designed to bring together culinary and cultural traditions from across Africa, uniting Ghanaian, Nigerian, Francophone, and Anglophone communities in a shared celebration.

The highlight will be a diverse range of authentic African cuisine, from Akple with okro stew and Fufu with light or groundnut soup, to Nigeria’s Amala with ewedu and gbegiri, and Côte d’Ivoire’s Attiéké with grilled fish. Food vendors and chefs will also present modern twists on traditional favourites, offering guests both heritage and innovation on their plates.

Beyond the food, Afro Flavors Food Festival will feature a dynamic cultural programme. Visitors can expect live drumming and music, storytelling sessions showcasing African folklore, traditional and contemporary dance performances, and interactive village games such as oware, sack races, and ampe. Artisan stalls and cultural exhibitions will add to the immersive atmosphere.

The organisers say the festival has been carefully designed as “a village-like experience in the city,” offering more than just food but an opportunity to engage with Africa’s living traditions. With activities for all ages, the event particularly targets families, millennials, Gen Z groups, and members of the African diaspora seeking deeper connections with their heritage.

Backed by media partners WatsUp TV and YFM, and sponsored by KIVO, WatsUp Agency, Voltic and Savana Paint, the festival is expected to attract large crowds from across the country and beyond.

With its blend of flavour, rhythm, and storytelling, the Afro Flavors Food Festival is positioning itself as one of Accra’s most anticipated cultural highlights of 2025, celebrating the power of food and culture to bring people together.
