Promoting social acts

International bodies that drive globalisation are concerned with the pursuit of huge projects relying heavily on science and technology.

The pursuit of huge projects based on science and technology means that those who do not have access to the required technical skills cannot be part of those huge projects. The question then is, what does the state do to them?

It is my conviction that the state can help such people by promoting the pursuit of small acts and projects that can be easily performed by such people.

For example, the state can provide land for those who can go into agriculture and provide interest-free loans for those who would like to go directly into some small-scale business ventures.

Pursuit of a personal project

The forces behind globalisation are driven by people who possess skills, tenacity of purpose and tenacity of action. They are highly organised individuals. And of course, the basic truth is that the strength of any society or human setting is dependent on and derived from the strength of its individuals and members.

Consequently, individuals within the Muslim community, for example, must pursue an agenda of self-development driven by a sense of purpose, results-orientedness and possession of a huge spirit that knows no break.

What must of necessity follow self development is what may be called "a personal project." Ask yourself "what do I want to achieve in life? and "how do I achieve it?

I call these questions "driving questions". They provide the impetus for the development of a sense of purpose in life and help people to leave traits worthy of emulation by others.

It has to be noted that it is an onerous responsibility of every individual to have a positive personal project he/she wants to pursue in life.

When this happens, a sense of focus is developed and the adverse effects of globalisation consequently diminish or they may be subsequently reduced over time, leading to their extinction.

The Pursuit of Technological Advancement
All efforts pursued by the Muslim world to counter the adverse effects of globalisation must be vigorously accompanied by technological advancement based on research, science and technology.

Or better still, and in a more succinct manner, the Muslim world needs science and technology to provide the basic necessities of life for its rising generation.

Modern technological advancement is changing the lives of people in an unprecedented manner.

In fact, every technology comes along with the culture of those who invented and carry it. That is exactly what is happening today.

Today, technology is driven by the west and is being used by it to globalise the world with western culture and patterns of life. The Muslim critically faces two options.

These are the pursuit of a judicious plan on research, science and technology to assert itself and its existence; or ignore that and face more complex problems in the future.
