2003 Year Group of St Thomas Aquinas school raise funds to support school

The 2003 Year Group of St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School has held a fundraising dinner and awards night to raise funds to develop the school.

The programme dubbed “Together we can” was held in Accra last Saturday.

As a starter, the Chairman of the Group, Mr Christian Adjei Boye, said the amount obtained would be used to renovate pavements in the school.

"You see people driving their cars on the lawns every now and then. We also realised that the pavements in the school had deteriorated.

"If people realise that the pavements have been renovated, when they are driving they will not drive on the lawns,” he said.

He also called for unity among the year groups.

Mr Boye later told the Daily Graphic that the members were able to raise GH¢20,000 out of a target of GH¢30,000.

The National President of the school’s old students association, Mr John Amuzu, said there were a lot of expectations from old students to do something for the school because the parent-teacher associations (PTAs) were no more functioning as they used to because of the free SHS system.

He said the move by the 2003 Year Group would encourage other year groups to do same.

Enoch Gampson, Andre Edgar, Daniel Yao Dotse, Jude Anlasun, Elvis Avornyo, Bismarck Duodu, Simon Aikins and Frank Kumi, all members of the 2003 Year Group, were awarded for their contributions towards the development of the group.

Assistant Headmaster of the school, Reverend Francis Benjamin Ohene, who is also an old student of St Aquinas, therefore, called on other old students of the school to help develop the institution
