The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the availability of its DVLAverify application on iOS devices and a web-based verification platform for vehicle registration applicants.
In a public notice dated September 23 the Authority said the platforms will enable prospective vehicle owners and registration applicants to complete biometric identity verification remotely.
According to the DVLA, iPhone users can now download the DVLAverify app from the Apple App Store and complete their biometric identity verification using their mobile devices.
For applicants without access to a compatible smartphone, the Authority has also provided a web-based verification platform.
The web portal allows applicants to complete the identity verification process using a compatible computer with a working webcam.
The DVLA said the new platforms are intended to improve access to its services and ensure uninterrupted service delivery to vehicle registration applicants.
The Authority encouraged applicants who require technical assistance to contact its Customer Support Centre or visit the nearest DVLA office.
The DVLA said the initiative forms part of its efforts to use technology to provide convenient, accessible and efficient services to clients across the country.
