Ridge Church School holds passing-out ceremony for 2025 batch

The 2025 graduating class of Ridge Church School in Accra have been urged to be bold, daring and ambitious in pursuing their dreams across various professional fields.

The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Mr Kwesi Afreh Biney, who gave the advice during the school’s passing-out ceremony on Wednesday, June 18, charged the students to pursue their aspirations unapologetically while maintaining a strong sense of discipline and integrity.

“I want you to be bold, daring and passionate,” he said. “Live your dreams. Aspire to be who you want to be—the next president, the next Chief Justice, the next pilot, doctor, teacher or journalist.”

Mr Biney challenged the students to rise as future leaders and exemplary ambassadors of Ridge Church School, carrying forward its rich legacy and inspiring future generations.

Character matters

Touching on the power of shared experiences and connections, Mr Biney reminded the graduates of the valuable social capital they had built over the years—assets, he said, that could open doors to future opportunities.

He lauded the school’s dedication to character development, particularly its emphasis on discipline, integrity and punctuality, noting that these traits were just as important as academic success.

“Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, will take you far in life,” he said.

Ceremony

A total of 70 students—35 boys and 35 girls—who recently sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduated.

The ceremony was held on the theme: “From here to beyond: A journey of transformation.”

Dressed in vibrant African prints, formal suits and ties, the students were presented with sashes and bibles during the colourful event. Several students received awards for academic and non-academic excellence, with Ohenewaa Asiedu named valedictorian.

The Headmistress, Mrs Nana Ama Acheampomaa Badasu, whose son, Michael Kofi Edem Badasu, was among the graduates, reflected on the journey of guiding the class from kindergarten through the trials of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She praised the students for their resilience, unity and growth, noting that their class motto, “Relentless”, captured their determination to thrive despite setbacks.

Mrs Badasu also acknowledged the critical role of parents, highlighting their active involvement in supporting the school’s mission.

She stressed that as the students move from one chapter to the next, they carry with them the values, knowledge and experiences that would shape their future.

“Remain in the True Vine (Jesus Christ) and you will bear fruits. Embrace the unknown, be brave and never stop learning. The world beyond these walls is full of possibilities, and we have every confidence that you will make your mark,” Mrs Badasu said.
