10 Korle Bu workers interdicted

The Director of Pharmacy at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) and nine other hospital staff members have been interdicted for allegedly misappropriating GH¢1 million.

A forensic audit conducted at the instance of a former Minister of Health, Ms Sherry Ayittey, from January 2010 to May 2014, identified significant administrative and control system failures at the hospital’s pharmacy department.

A statement issued by the hospital in Accra yesterday said “following due process, the board has interdicted the director of pharmacy along with nine other staff members, including one pharmacy manager, one principal pharmacist, three senior pharmacists, the pharmacy accountant and stores assistant”. 

“The chief cashier of the hospital has also been implicated and will be investigated as well,” it said.
