3 Houses of asylum receive assistance
Save the Poor International (SPI), a non-governmental organisation, has donated assorted items to three asylums, namely, the Royal Seed Orphanage, Country Side Welfare Orphanage and the Pantang Hospital.
The items presented to the orphanages included blankets, toys, children’s clothing, shoes, bags and sewing machines. Pantang Hospital received items worth GH¢7,500.
Mr Samuel Annoh Yeboah, the Executive Director of SPI, said the gesture formed part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility which compels it to give to the needy in society.
He said the organisation was aware of the challenges children in orphanages faced and has resolved to lend them its support.
He said, “God blessed those who gave alms,” and as such the organisation would not stop helping the poor and the needy.
He said the organisation together with its partners in the United States of America (USA), Orphan Grain Train Co-operation, has made plans to cater for the welfare of children in orphanages.
Appreciation
Mrs Emma Boafo Yeboah, the Founder of Country Side Welfare Orphanage, received the items on behalf of the orphanage. She expressed her appreciation to the organisation for its immense support.
She said the home gets support from organisations very occasionally and, as such, had had to rely on its farm for its sustenance.
She said the home was able to fund the education of 13 orphans in secondary school, six in tertiary institutions and one in a teacher training college. She, therefore, entreated public-spirited organisations and individuals to help with the upkeep of the children.
Mr Charles Yaw Adjei, the Administrator of the Pantang Hospital, received the donation on behalf of the facility. He thanked the organisation for its good work and urged them to continue with their good work.
The Founder of Royal Seed Orphanage, Ms Naomi Amoah, also expressed gratitude to the organisation for its kind support to her orphanage.
