30 government workers to benefit from 2018 KOICA Scholarship programme
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will this year give the opportunity to thirty Ghanaian government workers to benefit from its Masters Scholarship programme.
The Scholarship programme covers living expenses while in Korea for the minimum period required to complete the program, Air travel fare: Economy class, round-trip airfare, full tuition fees, accommodation, traveler’s health insurance, living allowance, meals, textbooks and materials, study visits, field trips, etc. during the program.
The prospective beneficiaries are to select a course in one of the 18 approved Korean universities in a programme which should have impact on their duties as government workers.
Speaking at a briefing session for prospective beneficiaries, the Country Director of KOICA, Yukyum Kim said the programme is part of the Korean government support to aid Ghana secure human resources in the areas of Agriculture, Housing, Energy and Education.
He added that since the establishment of the KOICA in 1991, the Government of Korea through the Agency had supported over 750 government officials with capacity building in different fields.
He named fields such as Fishery Science, International Trade and Policy, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Economics as areas that have been supported by the Agency.
He said the programme awards a Master's Degree to all the participants
The participants were also later schooled on the application processes.
For their parts, two beneficiaries of the program, Ms Lovia Afoakwa and Mr Michael Akurang Opuku lauded the impact of the programme on their careers as members of the civil service.
They also urged prospective applicant to take their studies in Korea seriously if they are given the nod.
