“We invite all well-wishers, supporters and fans to rally together to visit Winneba this Aboakyer season which commences April 25 to May 3, 2015, with the climax on hunting and durbar day, May 2, 2015.

“As usual, we promise you all a good mix of fun games while participating in the traditional Asafo activities on Friday and Saturday.

“You are assured of an exciting regatta and tug-of-war event, youth football gala, street jams, food fair, beach party, among many others,” a statement issued by the Effutu Oma Odefe, Neenyi Ghartey, said.

It said annually, the people of the area propitiated their head deity, Penkye Otu, in a special way through the celebration of the Aboakyer festival which was a time of joy and merrymaking.

“We are very proud of our gallant Asafo men who have, over the years, been at the forefront of this celebration in providing the catch, as well as its cultural ramifications. Before we get there, we show our appreciation by acknowledging them and hope that as the time draws near, they will work relentlessly and conscientiously to put their working gear together for the hunting day,” it said.
