Abuakwa SDA joins cleanup

As part of efforts to participate in the National Sanitation Day as Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA), members of Abuakwa SDA Church engaged in a cleanup exercise mostly around Abuakwa Asenemaso area last Sunday.

The three-hour exercise saw them sweeping and clearing refuse at the Abuakwa Old Market and gutters at the Abuakwa Police Station, Kubease and part of the Sunyani road to the Asenemaso station.

They were joined by the Abuakwa Asenemasohene, Nana Owusu Appau III, who is also Secretary to Bantamahene’s Gyaasehene; and the Assembly Member for Asenemaso Electoral Area, Stephen Boateng, who is also the Presiding Member (PM) for the Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly.

The Abuakwa SDA Church Pastor, Bernard Agyare, commended the church members for sacrificing the early hours of Sunday to participate in the cleanup exercise and called on other church members who could not join them to do so in the next exercise.

He, however, said that for the monthly ritual of cleanups to be more effective, state authorities would need to ensure that stores and markets were closed, taxi and trotro drivers would not work within that time frame to allow everybody to participate in the exercise.

In a related development, the Sepaase SDA and Abuakwa Maakro SDA churches also used the same Sunday to do their cleanup exercise.
