Adabraka Atukpai celebrates Homowo
The people of Adabraka Atukpai in the Greater Accra Region celebrated their annual Homowo Festival last Saturday with a call for a unified front to accelerate development of the area.
The queenmother of Adabraka Atukpai, Naa Korkor Adzieoyi I, the development of the Ga State rests in the unity among Gas.
She, therefore, urged them to use the celebration to forge ahead in unity by burying their differences in order to seek the growth of the area.
Celebration
Clad in red cloth, the Adabraka Atukpai Mantse, Nii Tetteh Adjabeng II, led his elders to sprinkle kpokpoi, a traditional food especially prepared for the occasion, at sacred places as well as some residences and some principal streets in the area.
He also poured libation for peace, prosperity and long life for his people.
The rituals were preformed amid drumming, chanting of war songs and the firing of muskets.
Addressing the gathering to climax the festival, Nii Tetteh Adjabeng II appealed to all Gas to vote peacefully in the forthcoming election.
He advised his people to accept the outcome of the election in good faith to prevent chaos in the area and the country.
He further urged the youth to guard against social vices and instead practice virtues that would shape their lives and help them become responsible leaders.
Education key
The overlord of Adabraka Atukpai also called on his subjects to make the education of their children their topmost priority.
That, he noted, would secure them with better jobs and a brighter future.
He further stated that there were numerous companies in his area of jurisdiction but due to the fact that most of the youth were not well educated, there was high number of employment in the area.
The therefore advised the youth to equip themselves in terms of academic and professional training, as well as technical training.
Nii Tetteh Adjabeng II further called on his subjects to keep their environment clean to avoid the outbreak of sanitation-related diseases in the area.
The celebration, which attracted over 15 security personnel, was very peaceful.
