The registration exercise which cost GH¢25,830 was funded by the MP from his share of the District Assembly Common Fund.

The move was undertaken by the MP to get many of the people in the constituency registered onto the scheme. A number of the beneficiaries of the registration exercise in the past also received their health insurance cards.

At a ceremony held to distribute the cards at Agona Swedru, Mr Obeng-Inkoom said it was his obligation to ensure that residents in the municipality had access to health care.

He said the NHIS was instituted as a security measure aimed at protecting the lives of citizens against the high cost of medical services.
He urged the people, therefore, to embrace the scheme and get register onto it in order to have access to medical services at all times.
According to him, he would channel a large percentage of his share of the common fund into health. He said he would ensure that health institutions in the constituency were well resourced to bring about improved conditions in health services delivery.

Municipal Chief Executive

The Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Oppong, commended the MP for his assistance, noting that it complemented moves by government to expand access to health care among the people.
He said he would team up with the MP to undertake programmes that sought to improve the living conditions of the people in the area.
He urged the people, therefore, to support the government in its quest to address the challenges that confrontedthe nation.
