The two bodies made the donation with the aim of assisting the district in the organisation of sporting activities, particularly among basic schools.

The Programme Director of the Youth Development, Research and Innovation Centre, Mr Eric Kwabena Amano-Mpianim, said many students were interested and talented in sports and needed support to unearth their potentials.

He said the two bodies decided  to assist the district directorate of education to organise sporting events so that pupils with interest in sports would chase after their dream.

According to him, if sports is encouraged right from the district level, it would contribute to the development of sportsmanship not only at that level but nationwide as well.

He advised students who were not academically gifted but were good in sports to take advantage of the opportunity to develop their talents for the future.

He said the two organisations were joining forces to provide study centres across the country in a move to inculcate the habit of reading in students.

The Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Directorate of Education, Mr John K. Koomson, received the items. He commended the two bodies for the donation. He said the sports items would boost the morale of students with passion for sports and gave an assurance that the items would be put to good use.
