The wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has charged Christian mothers to live worthy lives to serve as testimonies to others.

To do this, she urged the women to show genuine love, integrity and discipline in all their endeavours.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur said this at the Catholic Women’s Association Annual Diocesan Conference held in Sekondi.

It had the theme: “The Value of Marriage and Family: The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of the New Evangelisation”.

Other dignitaries present at the programme were: Nana Kobina Nketia IV, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, who chaired the conference; Mr Ekow Gyan, the Deputy Western Regional Minister; Most Reverend John Kwofie, Bishop of the Sekondi Takoradi Diocese and Captain Anthony Cudjoe (retd), Chief Executive of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur advised the women to be prayerful in supporting and nurturing young women, teaching them not only the Bible, but also how to live exemplary lives.

Partisanship

She said: “As Christians, God delights in our praises." She also urged them to rise above partisanship and avoid discrimination.

“As Christians, we are told to love our enemies so whether the person is of the same political persuasion or not, we have to show love to them because we are all one people. It is by loving others that we show the world that we are Christians,” she said.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur said with a lot of radio and television (TV) stations in the country, women must not allow their children to watch just anything on television, since there was too much violence on the TV screen and children had  easy access to pornographic materials either from the Internet ,TV or in books.

She reminded the women of their duty to ensure that their children watched healthy and educative programmes as well as read good books.

She said as Christian women, they were accountable to the Lord for the family that He had entrusted to them.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur charged the women to help stop the indiscipline, laziness and immorality among the youth so that they would be beneficial to their families and society.

She urged Christian mothers celebrating the Catholic Women’s Day to use the occasion to evangelise, not only on Sundays, but daily, when they had the time to do so.
