According to the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Development Association, the brain behind the festival, which is planned to rotate among the five traditional areas in the district, this year’s edition will be hosted by the Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area from November 2 to 9.

“This year’s edition is the third since the inception of the festival three years ago and Ajumako and Enyanmaim traditional areas have hosted two in that order; Enyan Abaasa and Essiam traditional areas will host the 2016 and 2017 editions to end the initial cycle,”the secretary of the association, Mr Mike Aggrey, explained.

He said various activities would be organised in the various communities in the district within the week the festival would take place.
Mr Aggrey expressed hope that the festival would soon be recognised in the country.

Host paramount chief

Addressing the launch, the Paramount Chief of Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Osabarima Otsibu VI, urged the people to direct their energies towards the development of the district.

According to him, religious bodies, chiefs and the government must collaborate effectively to facilitate the development of the area and the nation as a whole.

The paramount chief stated that the main objective of the festival was to bring together all stakeholders to improve particularly education and livelihoods in the district.

Osabarima Otsibu acknowledged that the government alone could not address the needs of the society and, therefore, called on traditional authorities as well as faith-based organisations to undertake development projects to complement the efforts of the government.

Member of Parliament

The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Cassiel Ato Forson, who donated GH¢500 towards the programme, in a speech delivered on his behalf, called on the chiefs to support the government towards improving the lives of the people.

He noted that a lot of development projects had been completed while others were ongoing in the areas of roads construction, education, and health, among other facilities intended to better the lot of the people in the area.

He urged the people to avoid any divisive acts since it was only through unity that the area could achieve its desired development.

District Chief Executive

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Light Koomson, commended the chiefs for their acceptance of and support for the institution of the festival to showcase the rich culture of the people in the district and to propel development.

He explained that the district would develop in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity and so called on the people to be united for the progress of the area.
