Reports say the timely intervention and exhibition of bravado by the police foiled the robbery at the bank.
The three other suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
The police retrieved three pump action guns, one of which had eight rounds of ammunition in it, a pistol with six rounds of ammunition, a hammer, a crow bar and some other implements that they used for the operation.
According to the Somanya District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Isaac Otsin, the police, on their usual night patrols around 2:55 a.m. yesterday, had information that armed robbers had attacked the Somanya branch of the Manya Krobo Rural Bank.
Gunshots
He said the police quickly moved to the crime scene and saw four of the robbers in the bank.

He said the robbers, on seeing the police, opened fire on them but the police returned the fire and as a result one of the robbers was shot.
Mr Otsin said the yet-to-be identified armed robber died on the spot, while the others escaped with gunshot wounds.
He said the body had been deposited at the Atua Government Hospital morgue.
Appeal
Mr Otsin appealed to all health facilities in the Krobo area, Tema, Ashaiman, Asuogyaman and the Akuapem North municipality, as well as other surrounding areas, to notify the Somanya Police and other police stations of any reported case of gunshot wounds.

Alan Kyerematen
The Kwabenya District Police are investigating the robbery attack on Mr Kyerematen.
Although Mr Kyerematen and his household were not hurt during the robbery last Saturday, the robbers are said to have stolen mobile phones, tablets, a laptop and an undisclosed sum.
When the Daily Graphic visited the residence, Mr Kyerematen’s son, Victor Kyerematen, confirmed the incident but declined further comment.

Efforts to contact the Kwabenya District Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Franklin Yevugah, for further details were unsuccessful, as he was not available at the time the Daily Graphic visited the station.
However, reports picked from neighbours indicated that the robbers manhandled Mr Kyerematen and his family.
