Asantehene rewards two top GJA Award winners GH¢50,000 cash

In a display of royal generosity and recognition of journalistic excellence in Ghana, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has rewarded two of the top winners at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) award winners with GH¢50,000.

The beneficiaries are Godwin Asediba of TV3, who emerged as the Overall Best Journalist of the Year, and Doreen Ampofo of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), who was adjudged the Best Female Journalist of the Year.

They received GH¢25,000 each from the Asantehene in addition to their awards.

The presentation took place at the awards ceremony last Saturday at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The 29th edition of the GJA Awards was held under the distinguished patronage of the Asantehene in Kumasi.

At the ceremony, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) also presented a special citation and symbolic artwork to the Asantehene in appreciation of his unwavering support for the media industry.

The Association, led by its President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, praised the Asantehene for his consistent encouragement of press freedom, moral leadership, and his firm stance on national issues such as illegal mining (galamsey) and public accountability.
