Ashanti Region: Municipal assembly demolises structures at Aboabo

The Asokore-Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has started demolishing structures at Aboabo Stream in Aboabo.

So far over 80 structures, mostly wooden, have been brought down by personnel of the assembly supported by the men from the security agencies and members of the community.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Huhu Hamidan, the slum dubbed ‘Pelele’, harbours criminals, and contributes to the silting of the stream.

Mr Hamidan said the area also poses a serious health threat to the inhabitants and the people in the surrounding communities.
