The week-long celebration was dubbed: “Entrepreneurship: The key to development.”

The Student Representative Council (SRC) President of the AUCC, Mr Peter Assanful, told the Daily Graphic that the clean-up exercise was part of the SRC’s social responsibility, and that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

He noted that the university chose Adabraka among other communities in the metropolis for the exercise because of its location, adding that “charity begins at home.” He promised that the initiative would be extended to other areas to ensure sanity in the metropolis.

The SRC president stressed that the university believed that the initiative would strengthen the already cordial relationship existing between the school and the residents of the community. Such a serene environment, he said, would boost the academic performance of students.

He said it was encumbent on the SRC to instil in the students the spirit of competitiveness. This, he said, would expose them to students of different origins so that they could share ideas and culture.

He added that the AUCC had the vision of becoming Africa’s best centre for communication and information technology studies by providing opportunities for advanced learning.

The week-long celebration, which ushered in the fresh students, was characterised by numerous activities such as an inter hall quiz, cooking competition, dancing contest, poem writing competition and ‘a-serve-yourself’ kenkey party.

Other activities included playing indoor games such as ludo, oware, draught and cards.

The celebration was supported by the Graphic Showbiz, Fan milk Limited, TV 3, Radio XYZ, Rainbow Radio and Discovery Radio, the university’s radio.
