Bill banning importation of salvaged and overaged vehicles into Ghana in the offing
The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu says the government is working on a Bill to ban the importation of salvaged [accident] and overaged vehicles into Ghana.
This is to help create an enabling environment and the market for various vehicle manufacturing companies, which have pledged to set up assembling plants in Ghana.
According to Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Majority Leader in Parliament, the Bill is still in its consultation stages.

Various vehicle manufacturing companies such as Nissan and VW have firmed up plans to set up assembling plants in Ghana to serve the Ghanaian market and other West African countries.
There is currently a huge market for salvaged (accident) and second-hand vehicles imported into Ghana.
