Boldly address devt issues —Pastors urged

A former first Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has asked pastors to be bold in addressing issues that confront the development of the country.

She said one of the reasons “Ghana is collapsing” was that men of God, instead of becoming a voice of change, had allowed the fear of being tagged as belonging to a political party to stop them from saying what was true.

At the second graduation ceremony of the Nhyira Prophetic Training Institute in Accra last Saturday, Mrs Agyeman Rawlings urged church leaders to train men of God who “can boldly say the truth without fear”.

A total of 14 young men and women were presented with certificates and ushered into the pastoral service after completing a training programme.

Mrs Agyeman Rawlings said the silence of men of God had paved the way for corruption, injustice and other social vices to thrive the country.

She contended that the economic situation in the country could worsen if churches, instead of addressing nagging issues, allowed fear to shut them up.

“We need men of God who will talk about issues that affect our daily lives. You must not let anything hold you back from saying what needs to be said,” she said.

Journalists blamed

Mrs Agyeman Rawlings also blamed journalists for keeping quiet and allowing things to continue to go wrong in the country.
She stressed that the current economic conditions demanded that brave and fearless journalists dug up things that were being hidden from the public.

“That is the only way we can address development issues in the country,” Mrs Agyeman Rawlings added.

Prophetic training

In her welcome address, the Founder of Nhyira Prophetic Training Institute, Rev. Mrs Jules Nhyira Wallace, said the institute was established to train brave and courageous men and women of God.

She said over the past years, measures had been put in place to ensure that those who graduated from the institute abided by the truth and honesty, and added,“this has been our hallmark since day one”.

Rev. Wallace said the institute would continue to lead the crusade for change in the country.
