The facilities were fully funded by the missionaries, with the community providing communal labour towards their construction.

The projects have been named after the late Rev. Dr Eva C. Wanton, a renowned Baptist missionary who once worked in the district.

At a ceremony to inaugurate the projects, which was attended by the group of missionaries, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Sekyere Central District, Mr Boakye Boateng, expressed his profound appreciation to the philanthropists.

He said the facility would improve the academic performance of the pupils of the school and the district as a whole.

He appealed for similar assistance in the educational sector for other communities in the district such as Amoamang, a deprived farming community.

For his part, the Nsuta Omanhene, Nana Adu-Agyei Bonsafo III, who was the Chairman for the occasion, urged the school management committee to make sure that the facilities were properly maintained.

He said he was hopeful that mastery of the English language among pupils in the school would be greatly enhanced while their skills in information and communications technology (ICT) would also improve.

The Coordinator in Education in Agriculture and Environment in the district, Mr Sule Mohammed, who represented the District Director of Education, Madam Amina Achiaw, said beside the pupils, the district as a whole also stood to benefit greatly from the projects as they would help with research into agriculture and the environment, which would aid farming activities in the area.

The ceremony was interspersed with music, drama, poetry recitals and cultural dances to signify the community’s excitement about the projects.
