Brothers in court for stealing

Two brothers, Eric Heh, 36 and Peter Heh, 24, are in the grips of the law for allegedly stealing a car belonging to a businessman.

Eric and Peter were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and stealing, but they pleaded not guilty on both counts when they appeared before an Accra Magistrate’s court on April 7, 2016.

They were subsequently granted bail in the sum of GH¢140,000 with two sureties to be justified.

The court was presided over by Mr James Kojo Bota.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Gregory Yeboah, said that the two are vulcanizers at Teshie, while Alidu Zibila, the complainant, is a businessman.

The prosecutor said in March this year, Alidu visited the two brothers to service his car.  He later sought permission from them to park his car valued at GH¢70,000 for them to sell for him.

Chief Inspector Yeboah said Zibila handed the keys over to Eric and Peter but he told them not to give the keys to any buyer until he (Zibila) was present.

C/Inspector Yeboah said on March 19, 2016 Eric called Zibila that a man had shown interest in the car, but under the pretext of taking it for a test drive, he had bolted with it.

Zibila subsequently lodged a complaint at the community 18 police the same day and the brothers, who couldn’t give tangible reasons over the whereabouts of the car and the said gentleman, were arrested.
