According to him, a healthy body creates an enabling condition for effectiveness and overall advancement in life.

He was speaking at the bank’s annual health walk which was held over the weekend to commemorate Ghana's Republic Day in Accra.

The 20km walk which started from the Cal Bank head office at Ridge in Accra went through the independence Avenue, Osu Oxford Street, the Dankquah Circle, the Police Headquarters, the Ako Adjei interchange and back to the bank’s head office.

The staff and management were taken through some aerobics, and educated on how to resuscitate persons in emergency situations in domestic and industrial environments.

Need to keep fit

According to Mr Owiredu, the bank had for the last years encouraged its staff to regularly maintain a healthy body.  Therefore,  the introduction of such regular health walk to maintain fitness would encourage them to make it a regular practice.

“We as bankers are expected to stay healthy and ready to make our clients happy at all times,” he stated.

He noted that as a reputable bank CAL BANK  would always ensure that clients received quality services at its state-of-the-art banking halls and branches, which had all the banking facilities and environment for all banking related activities.

Mr Owiredu added that due to the introduction of current banking systems and good human resource strategies, the bank was well positioned to meet the needs of institutions in the business sector.

 Stock market

He also mentioned that since the bank was performing creditably on the stock market, there was the need for staff to continue to put in much efforts to make the bank a first port of call for Ghanaians and other businesses.

The Head, Human Resource of the bank, Mr Samuel Boafo, expressed satisfaction with the attendance and commitment of staff to the exercise.

A Credit Officer of the bank, Ms Antoinette Ollenu, expressed her delight with the health walk, which, she said, had kept her emotionally strong and physically prepared to add value to her work.

She, urged her colleagues to join such events, especially when it had to deal with health and working conditions.
