Under the agreement, the BSI would provide training to all boards and strategic planning departments of the 39 SOEs.

It will also build scorecard systems for SOEs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their management practices.

At the signing ceremony in Accra last Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of the SEC, Dr Camynta Baezie, said the BSI would be using its 'Nine Steps to Success' framework in the training exercise.

Discipline

Dr Baezie expressed the hope that the framework would instil a sense of discipline in the SOEs to improve on their financial and other management performance practices "so that the SOEs can move to self-sufficiency and reduce the government-funded debt
