She, however, did not mention the number of companies or the expected investment in the manufacturing sector.

Mrs Sun was speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce (CECC) and Spring Festival gala night in Accra on Sunday.

The event afforded the Chinese companies the opportunity to review their work in 2014 and plan for 2015. They also engaged in music and dance to celebrate the Spring Festival - the first day of the Chinese lunar year.

The Spring Festival falls on the first day of the first lunar month, often one month later than the Gregorian calendar.

Investment

The Chinese Ambassador mentioned energy, construction, agriculture and manufacturing as some of the areas that would attract huge investment by Chinese companies.

She said Chinese investment in Ghana in the first three quarters of 2014 stood at $1.11 billion, and that the projected investment for this year would be more than that of last year.

Mrs Sun urged Chinese companies to abide by the laws of Ghana and also co-operate with local companies for mutual benefit.

Diplomatic relations

The Chinese Ambassador said Ghana-China relations gained momentum last year, and gave an assurance that: “China is committed to strengthening relations with Ghana.”

She said there would be high-level visits by Chinese government officials and business executives to Ghana this year.

On scholarship, Mrs Sun said China would continue to offer scholarship to Ghanaian students to pursue courses in China.

China Enterprises

The President of CECC, Mr Russel Xu, reiterated that Chinese companies would increase their investment in Ghana this year.

He said more Chinese companies were willing to come and invest in the areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), oil, construction and agriculture in Ghana.

Mr Russel, who is also the Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Limited, indicated that the chamber would continue to offer the platform for mutual co-operation between Ghanaian and Chinese companies.
