Being the first of its kind in the area, the health post is meant to bring health care to the doorstep of the people.

It was inaugurated by the Municipal Coordinating Director of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly (GCMA), Mr Charles Kotey.
It will be manned by healthcare professionals and they provide minor health services such as immunisation, registration of new births, treatment of cholera and other minor diseases.

Rehabilitated at a cost of GH¢22,000, the centre has maternity and laying-in wards, delivery room, washrooms for both patients and health professionals, among others.

The Municipal Health Director, Dr Dominic Amarh Quaye, received the facility on behalf of the health workers.

Advice to health professionals

Mr Kotey charged the health professionals to discharge their duties with much determination.

He stated that the municipality would provide the health post with the needed logistics to make their work easier.

He added that the assembly was also constructing another CHPS compound at Ablekuma, “all with the aim of bringing health care to the doorstep of the people.”

Mr Kotey said the assembly would mount a public education durbar to sensitise the residents to the need to use the health post.

Receiving the items, Dr Quaye pledged to make good use of the facility, stressing, “We will ensure that we put this facility to good use and provide the needed health care to the residents.”
