The court, presided over by Mr Justice Patrick Baye, said chapels and manses, including those at Dzelukope, Keta, Anloga, Dabala, Akatsi, Teshie, Nungua and Obuasi, which were currently being occupied by the Global Evangelical Church, should be returned to the EP Church.

The Global Evangelical Church and the EP Church had engaged in a litigation over those properties.

Background

It began after the Global Evangelical Church broke away from the EP Church as a result of disagreements over the tenure of office of the Moderator and doctrinal differences.

The break-away church took possession of some chapels belonging to the EP Church after the breakaway and a group of members of the EP Church, called Defenders of the Faith of the EP Church, filed a suit at the High Court on August 19, 2015, seeking an order for recovery of all the properties.

The leader of the group that took the court action, Mr Fred Goba-Tengey, told newsmen in Ho that the church was happy with the decision.

He expressed the hope that the Global Evangelical Church would obey the orders of the court.
