COVID-19: Accra has over 50% of Ghana's 1,420 active cases
Ghana has recorded 198 new cases of COVID-19 increasing the country's number of active cases to 1,420 as of January 10, 2021.
The figures released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS)/Disease Surveillance Department indicate that two more persons have died from the illness since the last update on January 8, 2021, bringing the death toll from the illness in Ghana to 340.
The figures also show that 293 persons have recovered from the illness since January 8.
The country has now recorded a total of 55,046 recoveries from the illness from 56,806 confirmed cases.
Regional breakdown
The Greater Accra region has 52.95% (752) of the 1,420 cases reported by the GHS, followed by the Ashanti region with 5.28% (75 cases) and the Western region with 4.22% (60 cases).
Meanwhile, four regions namely; Ahafo, North East, Oti and Savannah regions have no active cases.
