Cuba investigates 3 Ghanaian students
Cuban authorities are investigating three Ghanaian medical students for their alleged role in the robbery of a local in their country.

The three male students are on government scholarship in Cuba.
Earlier, Joy News had reported on Tuesday that some distress callers who blew the whistle on the issue had attributed the action of the three students to government defaulting in providing their monthly subventions.
The news report said the distress callers had stated that the situation, coupled with the rising cost of living in Cuba, was making their stay unbearable.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Thomas Quartey, confirmed the arrest to the Daily Graphic yesterday.
He agreed that occasionally, monthly subventions from the government to such students delayed, but that was not a good reason for students pursuing such a noble profession to resort to robbery.
He explained that students on government scholarships definitely got support from their families, adding that even without that, robbery was unjustified under any circumstance.
Mr Quartey said they would do all they could to support the students but the government would not interfere with the investigations in Cuba.

When the Daily Graphic contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, Ms Cecilia Akwetey, she confirmed that the money for the scholarship had been released to the Government Scholarship Secretariat in January, 2014.
She noted that as far as the ministry was concerned, all subventions had been duely released.
