Dannex Pharmaceutical offers scholarship, items to orphanage
A pharmaceutical company, Dannex Limited, has offered scholarship worth GH¢39,800 to the Agyanka Wo Anyidado Orphanage in the Central Region.
The company also donated assorted food items and drugs worth GH¢60,000 to the orphans.
The food items included bags of rice and sugar and gallons of cooking oil, while the drugs included ORS, Koffex C, Paramol and disinfectants.
Two inmates of the orphanage are recipients of the scholarship. It will cover the cost of their education, including books and feeding allowance, from junior high school to the university.
They will also be mentored and offered internship placement in the company on graduating from the university.
The beneficiaries, Christian Nyamekye,14, and Hannah Botwey, 13, are currently in JHS One.
The orphanage is home to 60 children.
Responsibility
According to the Managing Director of Dannex Limited, Mr Yaw Opare Asamoah, the presentation formed part of the social responsibility of the company to help better the lives of the needy in society.
“As a company, we are proud to be assisting in improving the lives of people because they are human capital which is very important to us. We hope that one day these children can join us in the company,” he said.
He commended the management of the orphanage for taking good care of the children, in spite of the prevailing socio-economic challenges.
He urged other corporate bodies to lend support to the orphanage to improve on the conditions of the children.
The Head of Business Development at Dannex, Kweku Ackah-Yensu, disclosed that the company planned to donate to three other orphanages and foster homes in the country.
Gratitude
The Director of the orphanage, Mrs Charity Ama Mensah, expressed gratitude to Dannex for the support.
“This is the first of its kind for the orphanage and it serves as big motivation for the children and the workers,” she said.
