Drug dealer stabs man for stealing his cocaine
A 38-year-old man who has been on the police wanted list for dealing in cocaine accused a 24-year-old man of stealing his cocaine and stabbed him in the head with a broken bottle at the weekend at Akyem Oda.
The suspect, Michael Okyere Darko (alias Mike), has been arrested by the Oda police and charged with dealing in narcotics and use of offensive weapon. He is being processed for court.
Briefing the Daily Graphic at Oda on Tuesday, the Oda Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr F. S. Adikah, said at about 5 p.m. on September 3, 2018, the police patrol team burned two ghettos used by illicit drug dealers at Oda after the dealers had escaped arrest.

Missing cocaine
He said the following day, the police had information that Okyere Darko had assaulted the victim, Kwame Brako, 24, for stealing his bag containing cocaine while they were fleeing from the ghetto as the police patrol team was approaching.
ACP Adikah said on reaching the scene of the incident, the police found out that Okyere Darko had wounded Brako on the head with a broken bottle and was bleeding profusely.
He stated that the police sent Brako to the hospital for medical attention and later to the police station to write his statement during which he narrated how Okyere Darko had accused him of stealing his cocaine in a polythene bag as they fled the ghetto on seeing the police.
ACP Adikah said even though Brako denied any knowledge of the missing cocaine, Okyere Darko and his friends brutally assaulted him.
He said the suspect stabbed him on his head with a broken bottle and fled.

The Oda Divisional Police Commander said the police mounted a search for Okyere Darko and arrested him at his hide out last Monday, September 10, 2018.

According to the Divisional Commander, Okyere Darko admitted during interrogation that he stabbed Brako with a broken bottle for stealing his money but not cocaine, as the complainant claimed.
He said the suspect would soon be put before court and charged with dealing in illicit drugs (cocaine) and use of offensive weapon.
