Tufik  Mohammed was arrested by the police at the Dormaa Presbyterian Park on July 24, 2013  for possessing 10 pieces of a wrapped brownish substance suspected to be heroin and one wrapped whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the charge of illegal possession of narcotic drugs and will reappear before the court, presided over by Mr Justice Alexander Tutu, later.

The Dormaa Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Mahamud Yussif, told The Mirror at Dormaa Ahenkro that Mohammed was arrested based on an intelligence report received by the police.

He said a search conducted in a bag the accused was carrying uncovered the substances suspected to be narcotics.

DSP Yussif said another search conducted in a kiosk by the park near where Mohammed was arrested also revealed some quantities of inhalators laced with a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine concealed in cigarette packets.

He said Mohammed told the police during interrogation that the substances were given to him by a man he did not know very well.

DSP Yussif said after investigations, Mohammed was charged with the offence and arraigned.

He said the exhibits had been forwarded to the Police Forensic Laboratory at the Police Headquarters in Accra for examination.
