The Ministry of Power has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to temporarily exclude some categories of customers from the ongoing disconnection exercise.

The categories include critical installations in health, security and educational institutions.

A statement signed by the Deputy Minister of Power, Mr John Jinapor, and issued in Accra yesterday said “the Ministry of Finance will continue to take steps to address the settlement of payment arrears of such categories of institutions”.

It commended the ECG for the efforts being made to improve its collection of outstanding bills owed by various categories of customers and disconnecting them from the national grid.

The statement, however, did not give details of the revenue collected.
