As part of the programme, various topics such as: The Ancient and Sacred Prayer; Knowing and Serving Your Mission in this Life; The Mahanta, a Friend in Good and Bad Times; and Finding Wisdom from the Heart Through the Spiritual Exercise were treated.

Other topics were Dreams-the Gateway to Truth and Wisdom of ECK; ECKANKAR, Ancient Wisdom for Today; as well as Stories from the Heart among others.

They were addressed by Mrs Challotte Asante, President of Eckankar Ghana, and a host of other high-profile speakers.

In an interview with The Mirror on a wide range of national issues, the Spiritual Aide, Tema Local Area of Eckankar Ghana, Mr Aspect Caiquo, said in order to forestall the recent rising tension in the educational sector, the school system should be secularised.

He emphasised that should that happen, no one religious belief nor practice would be imposed on another and that would promote peace and unity and cohesion, and added that it was unacceptable for some religions to impose their beliefs and practices on others.

Mr Caiquo said Eckankar taught, among many others, simple spiritual exercises to help members experience the Light and Sound of God.

He said Eckankar always had a living master who was given respect but not worshipped, and added that the living master offered spiritual guidance to its members to uplift and help them recognise their own experiences with the Light and Sound of God.

Mr Caiquo said all religions in Ghana had goals which were centred on love, ethics and service, which when adhered to would bring about the needed transformation and development in the society.

He said although Eckankar teachings had ancient roots, Eckankar was introduced as a modern religion in 1965 by Paul Twitichell and till date had members in over 100 countries, including Ghana.

The Tema Area Director of Eckankar, Mr Wisdom Nsowani, explained that the Day of Spiritual Interaction was held to introduce the religion to the general public and also help to demystify the religion.

"Ours is not a cult but also one of the spiritual paths that will lead you to God," he stressed.
