Edudzi Tameklo pledges cheaper; reliable fuel for Ghanaians
The acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has promised to prioritise affordability, quality, and reliability in the supply of petroleum products to Ghanaians.
Addressing the media on his first day in office on Monday, January 27, he reassured the public of the Authority's unwavering commitment to ensuring fair pricing and strict adherence to industry standards.
"The president's vision for Ghana and his campaign promise to reset key factors in the petroleum industry remain my top priority," Mr Tamaklo said.
"This is not going to be business as usual. Together with my team, we will explore all possible avenues to make fuel more affordable while maintaining quality and reliability for households, drivers, and industries alike.", he added.
Mr Tamaklo underscored his personal philosophy of teamwork, promising to align his leadership with President John Jemani Mahama’s broader goals for Ghana’s energy sector.
He highlighted the president's directive for innovation and results-driven policies to propel the downstream petroleum sector to new heights.
"The president told me, 'It’s not going to be business as usual,' and I am committed to delivering on that mandate. My focus is on fairness and ensuring impactful progress that will ultimately benefit the ordinary Ghanaian," he added.
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) is the regulatory body mandated to oversee the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana.
It ensures the availability, affordability, and quality of petroleum products, promotes competition, and enforces compliance with safety and operational standards.
Established under the National Petroleum Authority Act 2005 (Act 691), the NPA plays a vital role in driving Ghana’s energy policies and protecting consumers’ interests.
