Ensure maintenance of peace in communities - A.B.A. Fuseini entreats chiefs

The Deputy Northern Regional Minster, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, has emphasised the need for traditional authorities to contribute towards the maintenance of peace in their respective communities as the nation prepares for this year’s general election.

He also urged the chiefs to advise their subjects, especially the youth to desist from acts or utterances that could undermine the electoral processes and stability in the country.

Alhaji Fuseini was speaking during a courtesy call on him in Tamale by the Chief of Kotokolis in Ghana, Wuro Dauda Cheddere Brennae II, and his entourage.

The chief, who is based in the Nkwanta North District in the Volta Region, was in the metropolis to interact with the Kotokoli community and advocate peaceful co-existence between his subjects and their hosts.

Alhaji Fuseini explained that the sustenance of peace in the region was a shared responsibility between traditional leaders and the government.

He, therefore, asked the chiefs to advise their subjects to be law-abiding at all times.

Responsibility

Alhaji Fusieni also called on parents and guardians to be responsible in the upbringing of their wards.

He expressed concern over the growing practice of cyber fraud, ‘Sakawa’, by the youth in Tamale, in their bid to get rich quickly and advised parents to question their children’s sources of wealth.

The minister commended Kotokolis in the region for being law-abiding and urged other ethnic groups in the area to emulate them.

Pledge

For his part, Wuro Brennae expressed appreciation to the minister for the warm reception accorded his delegation and pledged the commitment of his people to the development of the areas that they lived in.

He appealed to the government to fast-track work on the Eastern Corridor Road, which links the Northern Region to the Volta Region, to facilitate trade and commerce among the people.

The chief later visited the Depkama of Tamale, Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni, to strengthen the existing bond of friendship between the two groups.

The Wuro Brennae had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon, Kapampakuya-Na Abdulai Andani, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
