Faulty fan regulator sparks domestic fire at Suhum Konfine, two rooms destroyed

A faulty fan regulator has been identified as the cause of a domestic fire outbreak at Suhum Konfine, which destroyed two chamber and hall units but recorded no casualties, the Ghana National Fire Service has confirmed.

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at 10:21 pm on Friday, May 1. A crew of eight led by STNO I William Mantey and commanded by STNO I Antwi Forson was dispatched within three minutes to the scene.

On arrival, the team found a two-bedroom chamber and hall, House No. C83, engulfed in flames with fire spreading to adjoining rooms. Power was cut before a charged hose line was deployed at 10:28 pm.

The fire was brought under control at 10:50 pm and fully extinguished at 23:13 hours. Preliminary investigations indicated that an overheated, faulty fan regulator caused the incident.

Two chamber and hall units with their contents were destroyed, while two adjoining units were salvaged. No casualties were recorded. The crew returned to base at 12:48 am.

The GNFS continues to urge the public to regularly inspect electrical appliances and regulators to prevent fire outbreaks.
