He said the one-time garden city was losing all its greenery, while indisciplined residents and hawkers had taken over pavements and other  places in the city, culminating in serious congestion of the city.

Addressing residents of the Bantama Sub-metro as part of his town hall meetings with the people, Mr Bonsu assured them that he would enforce the laws to make the city clean and urged them to support him.

The mayor, who had similar encounters with the people of Tafo, Subin, Oforikrom and Asokwa used the occasion to solicit the views of the people on how best to develop those places.

He reiterated his call on landlords who were yet to obtain their building permits to ensure that they did so before the March 31.

He said those who failed to do so would have their houses locked up by the KMA.

Mr Bonsu assured the people of his commitment to develop Kumasi for it to regain its lost glory and become the toast of the country and  preferred destination for business in the country.

Many of the residents complained about the lack of parking space and lorry stations for commercial vehicles, which was forcing drivers to park their vehicles on the shoulders of the road.

Some of them also complained of the lack of space in the markets in the sub-metro which had compelled most of the market women to move onto the streets to display their wares.

The residents appealed to the mayor to expand the markets for them to take more people and to get the women off the streets.
