Fire guts warehouses at Laterbiokorshie; explosion reported
A fire outbreak, reportedly triggered by an explosion, has razed a warehouse belonging to Chinese traders at Laterbiokorshie in Accra.
Eyewitnesses said the inferno, which started around 4pm today, quickly spread to adjacent structures, consuming at least three other buildings in the residential area.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were still at the scene at 8:50pm, battling to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further.
While the exact cause of the initial explosion is yet to be determined, preliminary reports suggest it may be linked to a power-related incident. There has been no immediate confirmation of casualties.
This is a developing story and will be updated later.
