The clinic, which is the first public health facility in the municipality, was funded by the Member of Parliament for Anyaa/Sowutuom, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, from her share of the National Health Insurance Fund.

The facility

The one-storey building facility comprises an outpatient department, a dispensary,  a laboratory, a child welfare clinic, and consulting and ultra-sound scan rooms.

It also has offices for doctors, the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Accounts Department and the Administration.

A maternity centre to provide antenatal and delivery services for pregnant women is expected to be established soon at the clinic.

Known as the Ga Central Municipal Clinic, the facility is expected to serve the health needs of residents of Anyaa, Sowutuom and their environs.

The inauguration

Inaugurating the clinic, Ms Botchway said the assembly saw the need for a healthcare facility in the municipality, hence the clinic to enhance health care.

“As a municipality, we are supposed to have a hospital, and since the government has not been able to build one for us, we felt that it is important to take a step while waiting for the government,” she said.

Call for Support

The Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr Dominic Amarh Quaye, commended Ms Botchway for her tireless efforts at bringing the project to life.

He called on the public to support the clinic with equipment to enable the medical team to provide efficient services.
