Mr Ahia said matters concerning the environment were of global importance and any institution that assists in inculcating environmental awarness in the youth should be encouraged and commended.

In all, about 1000 schoolchildren drawn from Ayamfuri, Denkyira German, Nkotumso and other communities took part in a three-hour clean-up exercise at Ayamfuri as part of the launch.

The DCE said the District Assembly was holding consultations with Perseus to help to reclaim lands destroyed through illegal mining in the district.

Baffour Akwasi Oppong, the National Chairman of GNASBA, presented the bins and footballs on behalf of Fan Milk. He said the association was committed to taking environmental sanitation education to the doorstep of the people and has so far distributed over 1000 litter bins and footballs to selected schools countrywide.

He said the association would ensure that the seedlings were distributed to schools and communities and planted to improve the health of the environment.
