A 34-year-old man, said to be the driver of a DAF XF 105 articulated truck (registration number GS 3097-20), who reportedly allowed a 12-year-old to driver the truck has been arrested.
The arrest followed the circulation of a video showing the minor behind the wheel of heavy-duty vehicle and driving it.
The boy has also been picked up by the police
In a statement issued on August 1, 2026 the Police reminded parents, guardians and vehicle owners not to allow minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks, warning that such actions violate the Road Traffic Act and pose serious risks to public safety.
"The Ghana Police Service reminds parents, guardians, and vehicle owners not to permit minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, particularly heavy-duty trucks, as such acts endanger lives and violate the Road Traffic Act."
The Service also urged the public to report similar incidents to help promote responsible road use.
"The Service urges the public to support efforts to promote road safety by reporting such incidents and ensuring responsible road use."
