Police arrest two over viral video of 12-year-old driving articulated truck

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man, the suspected driver of a DAF XF 105 articulated truck (registration number GS 3097-20), after a viral video showed the minor driving the heavy-duty vehicle.

 In a statement issued on August 1, the Police reminded parents, guardians and vehicle owners not to allow minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, especially heavy-duty trucks, warning that such actions violate the Road Traffic Act and pose serious risks to public safety.

"The Ghana Police Service reminds parents, guardians, and vehicle owners not to permit minors or unlicensed persons to operate motor vehicles, particularly heavy-duty trucks, as such acts endanger lives and violate the Road Traffic Act."

The Service also urged the public to report similar incidents to help promote responsible road use.

"The Service urges the public to support efforts to promote road safety by reporting such incidents and ensuring responsible road use."
