There was a blockade at the Birimso bridge section of the Accra-Kumasi N6 highway on Monday following an accident involving three vehicles.
According to the police, there was a pile-up of traffic following the accident, which involved a high-occupancy passenger bus, a loaded articulated truck, and a sedan.

The Eastern South Regional Police MTTD team from Kyebi temporarily diverted the traffic through Kyebi at Nsutam for Accra bound traffic, and at Apedwa, for Kumasi-bound traffic.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the accident involved fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi Pick-Up with registration number GE-8602-17, a KIA Sorento with GT-8601-14 registration number and an STC Bus with registration number GS-7050-22.
The fuel tanker, STC Bus, and Mitsubishi Pick-Up were completely destroyed by fire, while the KIA Sorento sustained extensive damage.
Personnel from the Bunso fire station were the first responders to bring the situation under control.
The GNFS said there were seven casualties, two females and five males.
As of 5:30pm on Monday, the situation was under control and motorists and other road users were urged to cooperate fully with fire officers on the ground as they work to completely extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of everyone.
