Investigations carried out by investigate journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, in collaboration with the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) and titled: “‘Care’ less: the devil and the orphanage”, revealed how the 100 children at the homes were subjected to inhumane treatment by their caregivers.

At the orphanage, the children were forced to fast, even in the midst of plenty.

The investigation uncovered a  sad tale of poor feeding and forced fasting, open sale of donated items, abuse and neglect, wanton pregnancy and abortion and lack of proper health care.

The investigation also found that the home had been turned into a business venture by its Founder, Mrs Emma Boafo Yeboah.

Commenting on the development Monday, the Minister for Gender, Nana Oye Lithur, said her outfit had collaborated with Anas Aremeyaw Anas to carry out the investigation.

She said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service had taken over the investigations, warning that those who are found culpable would be prosecuted.
